Award-Winning Producer Charles Steel to Lead Masterclass at 2024 Kingdom of Bhutan International Film Festival
Thimphu, Bhutan – The Bhutan Film Institute (BFI) is thrilled to announce that acclaimed film producer Charles Steel will be a featured masterclass speaker at the Inaugural Kingdom of Bhutan International Film Festival. Set to take place in the enchanting landscapes of Bhutan, KBIFF is dedicated to fostering creative collaboration and knowledge sharing among filmmakers from around the world.
Charles Steel is a BAFTA winning film producer and managing director of Cowboy Films. Produced films include Kevin MacDonald’s The Last King of Scotland, which won an Oscar for Best Actor, Forest Whitaker; and a BAFTA for Best British Film, Goodbye Charlie Bright; Amy Foster and the cinema documentary Fire In Babylon. TV productions include Poppy Shakespeare, which won the BAFTA for Best Actress and most recently two BAFTA wins for Netflix’ series Top Boy, written by Ronan Bennett. Cowboy also produces short films including the Oscar winning Wasp (Andrea Arnold) and the BAFTA winning I-Do-Air (Martina Amati).
As a masterclass speaker, Charles Steel will provide invaluable guidance and inspiration to both aspiring and seasoned filmmakers. His session will cover key aspects of film production, including story development, financing, casting, and the intricacies of bringing a film from concept to screen. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the production process and learn practical strategies for navigating the complexities of the film industry.
