Julian Lennon Appointed as Honorary Global Goodwill Ambassador for the Bhutan Film Institute
Thimphu, Bhutan – The Bhutan Film Institute (BFI) is proud to announce the appointment of Julian Lennon as the Honorary Global Goodwill Ambassador. Renowned for his contributions as a musical artist, photographer, and philanthropist, Julian Lennon’s commitment to humanitarian, environmental, and educational initiatives makes him an exemplary figure to represent the values and mission of BFI.
Julian Lennon has carved out a distinguished career marked by artistic achievements and a profound dedication to making a positive impact worldwide. A unique encounter with an Aboriginal tribe, and his passion for environmental and humanitarian causes, led him to establish The White Feather Foundation, which aims to address Indigenous, environmental, health, and education issues around the globe.
The White Feather Foundation, founded in 2007, supports a wide range of initiatives, including Native land preservation, clean water projects, reforestation efforts, and educational programs for children in need. By partnering with local communities and international organizations, The White Feather Foundation has made significant strides in improving lives and promoting the conservation of life worldwide.
As the Honorary Global Goodwill Ambassador for the Bhutan Film Institute, Julian Lennon will leverage his platform and influence to amplify the institute’s efforts in promoting cultural exchange, environmental awareness, and social impact through the power of film. His involvement will be instrumental in advancing BFI’s mission to nurture a new generation of filmmakers who are committed to storytelling that inspires change and fosters a deeper understanding of global issues.
“We are incredibly honoured to welcome Julian Lennon as our Honorary Global Goodwill Ambassador,” said Tshering Phuntsho, Executive Director of the Bhutan Film Institute. “His unwavering dedication to humanitarian and environmental causes aligns perfectly with our vision for the institute, and equally harmonious with the values for which the Kingdom of Bhutan is known. Julian’s support will be invaluable as we strive to create a platform for filmmakers who are passionate about making a difference in the world.”
Julian Lennon expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I am honoured to be part of such a special organisation, the first Bhutan Film Institute in the Kingdom of Bhutan.
I grew up surrounded by creatives whose medium was music or the visual arts, and I was encouraged and guided by many mentors on my creative journey. I look forward to passing that same support to the many aspiring young storytellers, film and musical artists of the Kingdom of Bhutan, in pursuit of their childhood dream: To share their stories with the world. The Bhutan Film Institute’s mission of teaching, nurturing, and paving the path for the next generation of artists is a tremendous cause, and I am happy to join this noble endeavour.”
